Biography Works
Renāte Stivriņa was born on
August 21, 1985 in Daugavpils. She graduated the Jāzeps Vītols
Latvian Academy of Music, where she studied composition with Arturs
Maskats, piano with Raffi Kharajanyan, and received her Bachelor’s
Degree in composition (2009). As of 2009, she has been studying
Master’s Degree composition at the Krakow Music Academy with Jozef
Rychlik, as well as film music and audio-visual art at the Leon
Schiller State High School for Film,
Television and Theatre in Łodz. She participated in master classes
presented by Dana Paul Perna at the international young Latvian
musician camp in Ogre (2004), compositional master classes in
Trebnice with Dietrich Mack and Alexis Agrafiotis (Germany, 2007)
and in Mazsalaca with Alla Zagaykevych, Yannis Kyriakides, and
Johannes Maria Staud (2008). She received the Vilis and Marta
Vītols stipend (2005–2009). She has received awards in many local
compositional competitions.
She has collaborated with the Latvian National Symphony
Orchestra, the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra, the Wroclaw chamber
orchestra Leopoldinum, many Latvian
choirs and the vocal ensembleAnima Solla. Her
music has been performed at the Krakow composers’ festival
(2009–2010), the Krakow animation
festival Ofafa (2011), as well as
choir festivals in Slovenia, Slovakia, Austria and
Italy.
As of 2009, she is member of the Latvian Composers’
Union.
